Adrian Holovaty, say it loud

God bless Adrian Holovaty.

Long revered by online journalism dorks, he’s now starting to catch the eye of media bosses, who see “Batten Award,” “Journalism Innovation,” “$10,000″ … and then, wait, was that $10,000??!?! — and decide that they too want in on this citizen media thing.

Of course, media bosses being media bosses, they could use a little guidance on how to get it all going.

So, God bless E&P for running an interview with Holovaty.

Say it loud, everyone:

“My advice to newspapers is to hire Web programmers — particularly those with a journalism background. A Web site without programmers is like a newspaper without pressmen. I may be off on this analogy, because I don’t know much about pressmen, but it seems newspapers don’t skimp on pressmen because they realize how vital pressmen are to running the operation. It doesn’t make sense to skimp on programmers. To innovate, it’s important to know what’s possible, and it takes technically minded folks to know what’s possible.”
