Fakin’ bacon cheeseburger love

How to describe the joys of eating a fake bacon cheeseburger?

It’s certainly not the joy of eating real bacon - Ria’s toothsome strips of pork fat (chewy, smoky and addictive) come to mind.

Nor is it the glory of a Chris Madrid’s burger … laden with a pound of stringy-melty cheddar cheese, that beauty is a delicate cloud of cow, a humble workingman’s feast.

No, the fake bacon, real cheese, fake burger is another entity altogether. It’s not the joy of a real bacon cheeseburger … not even the joy of real food, well prepared.

It evokes rather than provokes feelings of satisfaction and goodness. In the future when corpse food is off-limits, we’ll eat burgers like these and dream of Chris Madrid’s burgers topped with Ria’s bacon.

Thanks to Arien for bringing home the bacon. To my home. And leaving it. Cuz I ate it. Cuz you left it.
