More Atlanta Eats
OK. So sometimes this restaurant exploration turns out good. And sometimes … well, not so much. Rusan is a case in point. I love the concept — it’s this great, bright yellow “sushi” place with bumping pop music. Yay for lunchtime sushi bar. The waiters are fun …
Look how cute they are! And the sushi is plentiful, if not beautiful in this picture. But man … this was definitely a case of bad sushi.
About an hour after my meal — accompanied by the Lovely Katie Kaiser — I started to feel ill. Really, really ill. (Sorry, Katie — otherwise it was just great.)
It was so fun tho …
And a p.s. — I recall reading about this place on AmateurGourmet.com way back in the day — before I even thought I’d get to Atlanta. How fun to compare posts. (The place has been painted since then, Mr. A.G.
Later on, I got a pretty cool quesadilla at Elmyr, a quirky, kinda-healthy-Mex place here in Little Five Points. The vibe is laid back — cigarettes and beer and great for lunch — and there are lots of cute indie boys with plugs in their ears.
My quesadilla rocked. At first, I was a little disappointed — I mean, it looks like some baby spinach and pickled jalapeƱos just tossed on some monterey jack and a wheat tortilla. But it really really worked — it was lovely and greasy and just right with their salsa; thankfully not anemic. But $3 for a thing of chips and salsa? Good thing Alyssa paid.
And tonight, because I have an infinite amount of work to do, I’m at Javaology. This place is neat! Very friendly for us wifi dorks:
(Ok, I’m a sucky photographer) and they have quiche! Those of you you know me know I love love the quiche. And this is me drinking coffee. Quiche is excellent — crumbly and eggy and spinachy with a great butter crust.
You know I have a lot of work to do when I’m attempting coffee — I just don’t drink the stuff. Here’s to another addiction. (Thank you Javaology for free wifi and your kind waitress. You rule.)

You complain about the price of chips and salsa but you pay $3 or more for a cup of coffee?
It appears you are a bit confused.

A bit confused? Sure, I’ll cop to that on most days.
I actually don’t drink coffee … this was for a column I wrote:
