Well, children, it’s been real! But it’s now time fer me to drive the packed-to-the-brim xB up to DC to work at AAN. (You know I love that sentence.)

I’m brimming and bursting with blogalicious bits I can’t wait to share … so talk to you soon. Wish me luck on them icy roads!

Update, 11:40am EST

I hate to park.

I was one of those kids who failed the parallel parking bit of their driving exam.

But since I lived in Phoenix, land of the vast, enormous parking lots, the instructor let me off easy.

At 5am EST, I arrived in the core of a city built upon the principle of permits and parallel parking - a city whose Columbia Heights district is covered with two feet of dirty, iced-over snow. To park in this area for longer than two hours, you need a permit - which is an impossible feat for a recently arrived sub-letter (sub-lettee?) operating on 3+ hours of collected scraps of sleep.

Thus, the District would like me to move my car every two hours - and search for parallel parking in the snow drifts while city traffic swarms angrily around me in clumps of icy disdain for my Georgia plates.

Fuck ‘em. I’m going back to sleep, then parking my car far away from the madness, with Tony and Heather, in Falls Church, VA. I’d rather pay the ticket. (New roommate Leah assured me I would not be towed.)

Update, 12:56pm EST

Wow. That wasn’t so bad. We went down with Leah’s utility bill and got the permit. I suppose I’ll leave the car out front legally. Now to sleep.

The city looked cute on the trip to the cops - cute, but cold.
